Hi! (Last Update 18th June - News)
My name is Roma Oakes and I am a member of Para Equestrian Ireland (PEI) competing as a dressage rider. You can find out more about my background and my horse by clicking on the 'About Me' tab.
The good news is that I now have a new horse! His name is Patch Mills Bakers Bridge (Baker) and he is a 16hh ISH gelding. I have finally got some decent photos of him so can now let you all see what he looks like.
As you can see, he is a very handsome chap (and he knows it!). I have put some other photos on the gallery page so please do have a look at those too.
My last horse - as many of you will know was Ria (Retina 184) She is a very pretty horse who did teach me a lot but now, after a winter break she will be for sale as I want to concentrate on Baker.
My first horse (below) was Sam (Braeside Spectrum)
, I bought him in 2004 and had lots of fun on him. His forte was show jumping and, especially, cross country but after I had a bad fall in June 2008 I had to make the difficult decision to sell him as I had to give up jumping and he wasn't too enthused about dressage! He now lives in a lovely home and has lots of fun doing the things that he enjoys. You can see lots more photos of him in my Gallery.
I am classified as a Grade IV rider so I ride dressages tests equivalent to able-bodied Elementary and Medium level. I most often compete alongside able-bodied riders and am a member of Dressage Ireland. Further information about PEI and DI can be found on the 'Links' page.
